Liu Wei Di Huang Wan

Other Names : Liuwei Dihuang teapills, 六味地黄丸, 六味地黃丸, liùwèi dìhuáng wán, Six Flavor Rehmanni, Rokumi-gan, 六味丸 ろくみがん, Kampo #87.
The Liuwei Dihuang Wan is one of the most important Chinese patent medicines, and is widely used in eastern Asia. In China, there are hundreds of medicinal manufacturers who produce Liuwei Dihuang Wan and its derivatives. These derivatives include Zhibai Dihuang Wan, Guifu Dihuang Wan, Mingmu Dihuang Wan, Qiju Dihuang Wan, Maiwei Dihuang Wan, and Guishao Dihuang Wan.

Special Precautions of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan

• Use caution for those with Spleen Deficiency type diarrhea and indigestion with a white greasy tongue coat.
• Use caution in areas where diseases are predominantly caused by Dampness.
• Contraindicated for those with Yang Deficiency.
• This formula has shown to induce marked improvement in patients who are undergoing chemotherapy.

Benefits and uses of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan are

Kidney deficiency (primarily of Yin and Essence) leads to Empty Fire (pathological Will) and poor control of the Heart’s Fire.

• Back pain due to the kidney Yin insufficency. Typically, you feel weakness and then soreness of the waist and legs. You may also feel dizziness, faint vision, tinnitus, tiredness, sweat or low fever. You start to forget things and do not sleep well. You feel you are sick but doctors cannot find any underlying cause. You are not alone and these are common problems for people especially professionals who spend hours daily in front of computers and who are getting older (e.g., over 40). • Sexual performance. You feel you are not as hard as before and do not last as long as before. You feel sore waist the next day and it takes longer time for you to reinvigorate. (see sexual wellness for more info)
• Type II diabetes disease. In recent years, Chinese doctors have found that Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is very effective in treating diabetes type II disease. In multiple controlled human clinical trials, Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is reported consistently effective in over 90% patients, of which most have their blood sugar levels returned to the normal. The treatment is at least as good as the standard treatment with western medicines. When Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is used together with western medicines, it further enhances the efficacy of the western medicines.
• Menopausal syndrome. In a human clinical trial, 23 women were treated with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan for 3 months, the symptoms of hectic fever, hot flash, sweating, palpitation, and insomnia were significantly improved in 39.1% patients. Additional 60.9% showed some improvement.

• Fu Ling/Fu Shen (Poria/Poria Spirit) 9-12 gm (Fu Shen is preferred over Fu Ling in this formula)
