Causes

  • A dramatic increase in the consumption of omega-6 fatty acids and a corresponding decrease in the consumption of omega-3s.At the beginning of the 1900s there were almost no vegetable oils in our diet. Today, the average American consumes 70 pounds of vegetable fat. We are not designed to eat these fats in such large quantities. The makeup of fat in the human body is normally about 97% monounsaturated and saturated. Only about 3% should be polyunsaturated (the primary fat found in vegetable and seed oils). But the fat in your diet dictates the type of fat in your cells. If you consume plant and seed oils, your cell membranes will incorporate these fat molecules. The problem with polyunsaturated fats displacing saturated fats in cell structures is that these fats are highly unstable. They are extremely vulnerable to oxidative stress, especially in the skin, where they are exposed to oxygen and UV light.Numerous studies have also shown that polyunsaturated fats stimulate cancer while saturated fats do not. Studies have also shown that saturated fats do not break down to form free radicals as polyunsaturated fats do. Therefore, the result of having too much vegetable, corn, and seed oil in your diet is that your skin will sunburn faster and more intensely and you will be more prone to skin cancer.
  • A lack of antioxidant-rich foods : Research also shows that low consumption of fruits and vegetables increases your skin cancer risk. This should come as no surprise. The role of antioxidants in the protection against many forms of cancer has been clearly established. And in the case of skin cancer, the colorful plant pigments known as carotenoids are especially protective. These compounds are literally, “Mother Nature’s sunblock.” When you consume carotenoids they are deposited in your skin, where they provide protection against sunburn and skin damage. These nutrients are also powerful antioxidants that scavenge for free radicals and repair cells that might become damaged. In other words, they reflect and protect, forming a physical barrier and a nutritional barrier against skin damage. The leading sources of carotenoids are eggs, spirulina, chlorella, tomatoes, dark green leafy vegetables (kale, collards, and spinach), and yellow-orange fruits and vegetables (apricots, cantaloupe, carrots, sweet potatoes, yams, and squash). If you want to slow the aging of your skin and dramatically reduce your risk of skin cancer, you must gain control over all of the factors that contribute to the degeneration process. Don’t believe the hype that skin cancer is exclusively “caused” by the sun. In fact, sun exposure is some of the best “medicine” nature ever gave us. Used wisely, it can even provide powerful protection against skin cancer.
  • A high quality multivitamin with the full spectrum of vitamin E (mixed tocopherols), mixed cartenoids and zinc would be helpful for maintaining healthy skin as well as, ironically, vitamin D3 supplements.
  • Good fats are important. Skin cells contain fats. Avoid processed trans-fatty oils and use cold pressed virgin olive or coconut oils for salads and cooking. Omega-3 fatty acids are critical for the full spectrum of health issues. Chia seeds, ground flax seeds, and uncontaminated fish oils are good sources of omega-3.
  • Moisture is essential for skin health. Hydrating sufficiently is an important key. One guideline offered for sufficient hydration is how often you're compelled to urinate, which should be every two to four hours.
  • Choosing a topical skin moisturizer requires some serious label reading. For starters, make sure the sources are organic. Pesticides and insecticides damage the skin and can be absorbed internally. Avoid moisturizers with chemicals and preservatives.
  • If your complexion is very fair, you may need to use a sunscreen part of the time. Use one that contains zinc or titanium oxide to block the UV rays. However, the darker one's skin, the more one can endure time under the sun. Notice how the well tanned stay under the sun while those with fair complexions begin to burn.

Home remedies

  • Glycoalkaloids : As a treatment for keratoses, glycoalkaloids are thought to work by exploiting structural differences between healthy and sun-damaged skin cells. As skin cells are damaged, the cell walls become more permeable, allowing glycoalkoloids to penetrate into abnormal cells. Once inside the cell walls, glycoalkaloids release enzymes that apparently break down the cells from the inside out.
  • eggplant : A cream formulation containing high concentrations (10%) of a standard mixture of solasodine glycosides (BEC) has been shown to be effective in the treatment of malignant and benign human skin tumors. (see also : Glycoalkaloids)
  • Radium Weed : An active ingredient of E. peplus sap has been identified as ingenol mebutate (PEP005). Studies show that when Ingenol mebutate is applied to the skin it not only kills the cancerous cells but also recruits white blood cells known as neutrophils that appear to reduce the risk of relapse by destroying any residual malignant cells that could allow the tumour to re-grow.
  • Milk Thistle extract, called silibinin, protect against skin cancer-causing ultraviolet-B (UVB) radiation, but it also kills cells that have undergone mutations due to ultraviolet-A (UVA) radiation -- a process that would potentially lead to cancer.
  • Ginger and its constituents have been studied to inhibit Skin Cancer.
  • Modified Citrus Pectin : Several animal studies found that MCP helped reduce the spread of prostate, breast, and skin cancer.
  • non-melanoma skin cancers and pre-cancerous lesions treated with diluted tea tree oil inhibits tumor growth and causes tumor regression.
  • Mayapple extract is used externally to treat all types of external warts and some skin cancers.
  • Grape seed extract shows remarkable protective effects against three major cancers: squamous cell carcinoma and prostate and hematologic malignancies.
  • Mint exhibits the capacity to protect the animals’ lungs, skin and colon against the formation of cancer.
  • the colorful plant pigments known as carotenoids are especially protective by their antioxidants properties. The leading sources of carotenoids are eggs, spirulina, chlorella, tomatoes, dark green leafy vegetables (kale, collards, and spinach), and yellow-orange fruits and vegetables (apricots, cantaloupe, carrots, sweet potatoes, yams, and squash).
  • the carotenoid astaxanthin has also piqued the interest of researchers due to its ability to reduce signs of aging by helping protect your skin from sun damage.
  • avocadoes are effective in preventing mouth and skin cancer, as well as prostate cancers.
  • bloodroot has certain anti-cancer agent properties that are useful in the treatment of skin cancer.
  • Tea Tree oil is touted as a possible preventative against certain types of skin cancers. The journal, Cancer Chemotherapy Pharmacology, reported tea tree oil's curative effects on patients diagnosed with non-melanoma skin cancers or pre-cancerous lesions. Within 1 day of treatment tumor growth had slowed and tumor size had shrunk, and within 3 days tumors were almost invisible.
  • Vitamin D : Research has found that having adequate levels of vitamin D in the body not only reduces the risk of melanoma - the most serious form of skin cancer - but of other forms of cancer as well. This does not mean it is ok to get out in the sun for hours and hours without protection or to use tanning beds daily. UV exposure has definitely been linked to several forms of skin cancer. However, complete avoidance of any kind of sunlight is not beneficial either. What is best appears to be moderate exposure on a daily basis to keep levels of vitamin D adequate and to take advantage of the protection this vitamin can give when it comes to preventing skin cancer.
  • Vitamin A : A study at the University of Arizona (UA) showed that when 25,000 IU of vitamin A supplements were taken daily, risk of squamous cell skin cancer in patients with moderately severe keratoses was significantly reduced.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids supplementation improves innate immune response to help prevent skin cancer.
  • Vitamin B3 can reduce skin cancer risk by 23% according to an australian study.
  • DMSO and MSM
  • Ursolic Acid : Topical application of ursolic acid inhibited TPA-induced initiation and promotion of tumor growth.

Warnings

If you do suspect you have a cancerous lesion and want to treat it with BEC5, health practitioners strongly recommend that you consult with a doctor before treating yourself. Your doctor can perform a biopsy to determine whether a skin lesion is cancerous, and, if so, to confirm the type of cancer you have. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. Experts do not recommend BEC5 treatment for melanoma because this type of cancer spreads so fast and once it spreads, it is often fatal. Therefore, surgery is recommended instead. Certain other skin cancers may also require surgery. For this reason, health practitioners recommend seeing a doctor first for a biopsy to confirm cancer type before beginning any home treatment.
