Soft Tissue Release, or Myofascial Release, is therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. Soft Tissue Release relaxes contracted muscles, improves blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulates stretch reflex in muscles. It is a technique of assisted stretching of muscle fibres, tendon and fascia. STR involves repeatedly and quickly stretching small areas of the soft tissue. Precise pressure is applied to part of the muscle which is then moved to achieve a very specific stretch.

Precise pressure is applied to part of the muscle which is then moved to achieve a very specific stretch.

health Benefits and Uses of Soft Tissue Release

oft Tissue Release has the same physiological benefits as traditional massage, however, it is less time consuming and uses only minimal discomfort. The benefits of STR not only include the latter, but also increase venous and lymphatic drainage, increase fluid absorption, mobilization of adhesions, and aids in the breaking of scar tissue, thus helping to improve tissue flexibility, increase range of motion and decrease healing time. (Sanderson, 2002) The STR process and treatment actively involves the client, therefore giving each client a sense of accomplishment and overall well-being when treatment is complete. Soft Tissue Release is a very effective technique to help people in pain. It involves client movement to enhance the effectiveness of your treatments.
