The plant is widely destributed throughout India, ascending up to an altitude of about 1500 m, and also in a majority of the countries of South East and far East Asia like Sri Lanka, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and Pakistan as well as Tropical Africa

• Anti tumor activity : Woodfordin C, a macro ring hydrolysable tannin dimer isolated from dried flower of W. fruticosa, has been reported to exhibit anti tumor activity.
