Health Benefits and uses of Blue Tansy

Blue Tansy essential oil is a vivid deep blue color due to its azulene (chamazulene) content. Like German Chamomile, it is a potent anti-inflammatory, excellent in skin-care and anti-allergen formulas. Not to be confused with Tansy oil, Blue Tansy Oil is non-toxic, and has many similar properties to German 'Blue' Chamomile oil. Experience in the aromatherapy community suggests that this oil is non-toxic and its liberal addition to preparations for topical or inhalation is free of risks.” ~ Kurt Schnaubelt, Ph.D., The Healing Intelligence of Essential Oils

  • Blue Tansy is most efficacious when used in concentrations of 5% or less.
  • The aroma of Blue Tansy oil induces relaxation and can be used to ease nervous tension and stress.
  • for allergies  : a drop under each eye to instantly aid with hay fever.
  • for asthma : blend it with some Ravensara for best results. For respiratory support, it is most effectively used as an inhalant in a diffuser, or you can also put a couple of drops on a handkerchief and inhale.
  • Skin-care : For burned, inflamed and damaged skin, sunburns and bruises - an excellent blend for where skin is actually damaged is as follows: 10ml of Sesame Oil with 10 drops Helichrysum essential oil and 6 drops Blue tansy.
  • Anti-inflammatory : Moroccan Chamomile is so precious for aromatherapy because of its spectrum of sesquiterpenes lactones… this class of compounds inhibits transcription factor, NF-kappa beta, which plays an important role in the cascade of events mediating inflammation. Tanacetum annuum apparently works at an early stage of the inflammation cascade, preventing the synthesis of the proteins that would transmit inflammation.
  • Like other “blue” oils, is used for sore muscles, sprains and strains, arthritis, rheumatism, and sciatica.
