Chrysin is a natural, biologically active flavonoid compound extracted from many plants (Passiflora incarnate, commonly called passion flower), honey and propolis.

Special Precautions of Chrysin

  • Chrysin users have reported no adverse side effects. Physicians advise users interested in to limit their usage to eight-week periods and to follow dosage information as precisely as possible. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should stay on the safe side and avoid using Chrysin, as not enough scientific data is available to ensure its safety.
  • Drug Interactions: Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) Substrates

Some medications are broken down in the liver. Taking Chysin with medications that are broken down or changed by the liver may increase the potential side effects of the medication. Taking Chrysin with these types of drugs may also change the how quickly and how well the medication works. Some examples of Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) substrates include: atorvastatin (Lipitor), (Clozaril), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), diazepam (Valium), digoxin, entacapone (Comtan), fluvoxamine (Luvox), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), lorazepam (Ativan), mexiletine (Mexitil), morphine, olanzapine (Zyprexa), pentazocine (Talwin), propranolol (Inderal), tacrine (Cognex), theophylline, zileuton (Zyflo) and zolmitriptan (Zomig).

  • Drug Interactions: Aromatase Inhibitors : Medication for cancers that are sensitive to estrogen levels (aromatase inhibitors) are affected by Chrysin use. Aromatase inhibitors decrease the amount of estrogen produced in the body. Chrysin also works to decrease estrogen production. Taking an aromatase inhibitor and Chrysin together may decrease estrogen production too much.
  • Misconceptions : Chrysin is an herbal supplement. It is believed to act as an aromatase inhibitor. Aromoatase inhibitors decrease estrogen production, which allows for more testosterone to be produced in the body. Like many herbal supplements, there is not enough scientific data currently available to completely support the claim that Chrysin raises testosterone levels in the body.

The benefits of Chrysin are

  • Chrysin is a naturally occurring flavone that is chemically extracted from the blue passion flower.
