Infectious mononucleosis (mono) is widely known as the "kissing disease" even though this label is only partly true. Kissing can indeed spread the virus, but more commonly transmission occurs through coughing, sneezing, or sharing a cup. Mononucleosis is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. Mono is most common in adolescents and young adults.

  • For many years it has been known that Green Tea polyphenols actively suppress many bacterial, fungal and viral species. On the virus front, green tea suppresses the adenovirus, Epstein-Barr, herpes simplex, HIV-1 and influenza viruses.
  • Coconut Oil : Consume 3-4 tablespoons of coconut oil daily while experiencing mono symptoms. You can take your coconut oil straight, mixed as a sweetener with hot tea, blended into a smoothie, or however else you like. Coconut oil is a powerful general health aid and seems to have antiviral properties. In most cases it will get rid of typical mononucleosis fatigue.
