Throat Cancer and Esophageal Cancer aren't "exactly" the same thing, but are usually linked together because throat cancer can lead to esophageal cancer if not treated immediately. Oropharyngeal cancer is a disease which malignant cells form in the tissue of oropharynx. Oropharynx is a middle part of the throat which includes the base of the tongue, the tonsils, the soft palate, and the walls of the pharynx. Throat cancer is often grouped into two categories:
- Pharyngeal Cancer : Pharyngeal cancer forms in the pharynx. This is the hollow tube that runs from behind your nose to the top of your windpipe.
- Laryngeal Cancer forms in the larynx, which is your voice box.
Types
Oropharyngeal cancers can be divided into two types
- HPV-positive, which are related to human papillomavirus infection (See also : Human Papillomavirus)
- HPV-negative cancers, which are usually linked to alcohol or tobacco use.
Symptoms
- Trouble breathing or speaking
- Frequent headaches
- Pain or ringing in the ears
- Trouble swallowing
- Ear pain
Home remedies
- Green Tea : Scientific research into the effects of green tea on throat cancer is lacking. However, the results of laboratory study published in 2003 in "Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica" show that the green tea compound, epigallocatechin-3-gallate, inhibits the growth of laryngeal cancer cells.
- Baking Soda remedy benefits cancers of the throat, colon, intestines and rectal area. Because cancer cells are so hungry for sugars, when the baking soda is mixed with maple syrup, the mixture will go straight to the site of the tumor, like a Trojan Horse, where the bicarbonate will quickly work as a weapon against disease.
