It is a good herb for tea and to season meat and is also very high in vitamin A and C and can be eaten in salads. Actions: Anti-spasmodic, anti-depressive, anti-microbial, carminative, diaphoretic, hepatic, nervine

TARGET AILMENTS:

  • Take internally for:
    • migraines associated with tension, neuralgia, insomnia, and anxiety induced palpitations.
    • colds
    • bacteria, fungus, intestinal worms
    • relief of spasms in the digestive track
    • mild depression and anxiety
    • lowering blood pressure
    • feverish conditions such as influenza
  • Use externally for:
    • skin lesions of Herpes simplex
    • burns
    • warts

Dosage

This herb is available as tincture, dried leaved, and salve in health food stores.

  • Infusion: Pour one cup of boiling water over 2-3 teaspoonfuls of the dried herb (can use 4-6 fresh leaves) and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes. Keep tea cover until ready to use. Drink a cup of tea in the morning and in the evening or when needed.
  • Tincture: Take ½ teaspoon of the tincture three times a day.

Parts used: Fresh leaves and dried leaves.
This herb is a perennial plant and there are twelve species of the Monarda genus.It has lavender flowers and a very strong fragrance.
