A close relative of Grifola frondosa (Maitake), Polyporus Umbellatus differs from most medicinal mushrooms in that traditionally it has been harvested as sclerotium, an underground 'seed' or 'nugget' which grows in the mycellium.

Polyporus umbellatus contains ergosterin, alpha hydroxy tetracosane acid (acid?), biotin (a kind of vitamin B complex), polysaccharide and polypeptide, and it’s also rich in cellulose and minerals. The ingredients of minerals mainly include: calcium, potassium, iron, and trace elements such as manganese, copper and zinc. Polyporus umbellatus may contain bioactive compounds with immunostimulating, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective properties.

  • Believed to enhance the immune system, while also supporting liver health; particularly helpful against bacteria-borne disease.
  • It is reported that long term use makes one feel happy and vigorous and look younger.
