Most hordeola are external and result from obstruction and infection of an eyelash follicle and lives on the outside adjacent glands of the eyelidZeis or Moll glands. A chalazion Follicle obstruction may be associated with blepharitis . An internal hordeolum, which is a blocked oil gland that appears on the inside of the eyelidvery rare, usually surfacing as results from infection of a bumpmeibomian gland. Sometimes cellulitis accompanies hordeola.
