Special Precautions of Palm Oil

  • Do not use palm oil in amounts more than those found in foods except on medical advice if:
    • You are pregnant or breast-feeding.
    • You are scheduled for surgery in the next two weeks. Palm oil might increase the risk of bleeding.
  • Medications that slow blood clotting (Anticoagulant / Antiplatelet drugs) interacts with PALM OIL
  • Palm Oil is high in saturated fat and low in polyunsaturated fat. Take with care if you have heart disease.

Benefits and uses of Palm Oil are

Palm oil contains saturated and unsaturated fats, vitamin E, and beta-carotene. It might have antioxidant effects.

  • Preventing a lack of vitamin A (vitamin A deficiency). There is some evidence that adding palm oil to the diet of pregnant women and children in developing countries might reduce the risk of developing vitamin A deficiency.
  • Decreasing symptoms of malaria, when added to the diet of young children (less than 5 years old) in developing countries.
