Special Precautions of Jin Ying Zi
- It shouldn’t be used in the cases of accompanied neurasthenia, insomnia, night sweats, excess fire, and pathogenic heat.
- Contraindicated for those with Excess pathogenic influences, especially Heat.
- Contraindicated for those with Blazing Fire from Yin Deficiency with incontinence of urine or spermatorrhea.
- Overdose or long term use may cause abdominal pain or constipation.
- Cucumber and pork liver are not allowed when this herb is being taken.
- Since it is rich in vitamin C, side effects related to vitamin C would occur if taken in overdose.
Health Benefits and Uses of Jin Ying Zi
- Stabilizes the Kidneys, astringes urine and retains Jing : Deficiency and instability of the Lower Jiao with spermatorrhea, urinary incontinence and vaginal discharge
- The tannin contained has astringent, antidiarrheal effect : Astringes the Intestines and stops diarrhea : Chronic diarrhea and dysenteric disorders
- Its decoction can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, tetanus, leptospira and influenza virus.
- Its decoction has anti-atherosclerotic effect.
