Special Precautions of Lu Jiao Shuang

  • Contraindicated in patients with yin deficient heat, phlegm-heat in the Lung, Stomach fire and excess or stagnant conditions caused by heat.
  • It should not be used for bleeding due to yin deficient fire.

Health Benefits and uses of Lu Jiao Shuang are

  • Tonifies Kidney Yang, nourishes blood in the Ren and Chong channels: although weaker than lu rong, lu jiao and lu jiao jiao in tonifying Kidney yang, it is not cloying or greasy making it suitable for long-term use.
  • Astringes: its astringent function is best for patients with diarrhea and poor appetite due to Spleen and Kidney yang deficiency; can also be used in women with uterine bleeding and profuse, clear vaginal discharge due to Kidney yang deficiency.
  • Heals ulcers and stops bleeding: for slow-healing sores, it may be applied topically as a powder.
