Pharyngeal Cancer

Cancer of the pharynx is less common than other head and neck cancers. It occurs in three locations:
- The oropharynx, which includes tumours of the base of tongue, tonsil and the undersurface of the soft palate.
- The hypopharynx, which includes tumours of the postcricoid area, pyriform sinus and the posterior pharyngeal wall.
- The nasopharynx, which is behind the nasal cavity and above the soft palate
