Kaempferol is type of flavonoid found in tea, broccoli, Delphinium, Witch-hazel, Grapefruit, Cabbage, Kale, Beans, Endive, Honey, etc., and may be a potential phytochemical in preventing arteriosclerosis, oxidative damage of cells, lipids and DNA, etc.

Special Precautions of Kaempferol

Although, kaempferol is not associated with any serious side effects but it can be allergic to some people. Also, excessive intake of kaempferol can be harmful during pregnancy or lactation. If you are interested in taking kaempferol supplements then consult with your doctor before using them.

Benefits and uses of Kaempferol are

Kaempferol is a strong anti-oxidant and it contains anti-inflammatory properties as well. Anti-oxidant activities of kaempferol prevent oxidative damage of the cells, thus protect us from dangerous heart diseases such as arteriosclerosis and cancers as well.

  • Heart Disease : Research has shown that high amount of Kaempferol in the diet can inhibit the risk of developing heart disease and cancer.
  • cancer : The combination of kaempferol and quercetin (another flavonoid) plays vital role in the suppression of cancer cells. Because of their anti-cancer activities, kaempferol & quercetin are used in anti-cancer drugs.
  • In addition to anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, kaempferol is also known for anti-microbial, neuro-protective and anti-viral activities. Anti-inflammatory and neuro-protective activities of kaempferol are very helpful in prevention of brain damage.
  • anti-viral : Kaempferol has shown anti-viral activity against several viruses including influenza virus and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
