Special Precautions of Ginger
* Side effects associated with ginger are rare, but if taken in excessive doses the herb may cause mild heartburn, diarrhea and irritation of the mouth. Some of the mild gastrointestinal side effects, such as belching, heartburn, or stomach upset, may be relieved by taking ginger supplements in capsules.
*People with gallstones should consult a doctor before taking ginger. Make sure to tell your doctor if you are taking ginger and will be undergoing surgery or placed under anesthesia for any reason.
*Since ginger acts as a blood thinner, it's important to discontinue use at least two weeks before surgery and let your doctor know you've been using the herb : Do not take ginger if you have a bleeding disorder or if you are taking blood-thinning medications, including aspirin. Patients taking anticoagulants should be cautious. Avoid combination with other Herbal remedies that slow blood clotting like garlic, chamomile, devil’s claw, papaya, Ginkgo Biloba, Red Clover and Asian or Siberian ginseng and coumarin containing herbs.
==The benefits Health Benefits and Uses of Ginger are==*Researchers from the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center have found that ginger not only kills cancer cells, it also prevents them from building up resistance to cancer treatment. The active substances in ginger are not yet discovered, but paradols, gingerols and shogaols probably play the main role. Ginger and its constituents have been studied to inhibit the following cancers:
**Ovarian Cancer
**Colon Cancer
**Liver Cancer
**Lung Cancer
**Breast Cancer: 6-shogaol, a chemical isolated from dried or cooked ginger roots inhibits breast cancer
**Melanoma
**Skin Cancer
**Pancreatic Cancer
**Prostate Cancer
It also helps to reduce the inflammation caused by the cancerous cells. Unlike chemotherapy, ginger will not cause the cancer cells to become resistant to the ingredient which destroy the cancerous cells. Gingerol is confirmed to be a cancer stem cell killer. Cancer stem cells are largely responsible for the failure of conventional cancer treatment.
* Gingerol is not just an anti-cancer agent but it has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory activites.
* Ginger is used against headache and to get relief from nasal problems. It has anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties. Ginger extract is used for curing sinus Infections.
* Detox : promote detoxification by speeding the movement of food through the intestines, thanks to compounds called gingerols and shogaols.
* Ginger clears the ‘microcirculatory channels’ of the body, including the pesky sinuses that tend to flare up from time to time.
*Agains airsickness and nausea : Chew on ginger, preferably tossed in a little honey. Can be combined with Fennel.
*Ginger helps reduce flatulence!
*Tummy moaning and groaning under cramps? Munch on ginger—for best results, toss it in a little warm ghee before you chew.
*Nausea after surgery : Chewing ginger post-operation can help overcome nausea.
*Stir up some ginger tea to get rid of throat and nose congestion. And when there’s a nip in the air, the warming benefits of this tasty tea are even greater!
*Bedroom blues? Try adding a gingery punch to a bowl of soup. (Psst…the Ayurvedic texts credit ginger with aphrodisiac properties, too!)Aphrodisiac : Panax Ginseng + Ginger
* Aromatherapy for Vata Imbalance.
