Other Names : Chamaecyparis formosensis, Formosan cypress, Taiwan cypress / 紅檜/红桧 <br>Hong Kuai are trees native to the mountains of Taiwan, grow to an enormous height and live for up to 2000 years. It's wood was used in construction for temples and palaces, it’s resistant to insects and fungi and its essential oil has antiseptic properties.

* Hong Kuai is threatened by extinction : Only use sustainable harvested wood : ‘harvest by nature’ which means only using trees naturally fallen during the monsoon season (the trees are no longer allowed to be clear-cut).
