Home remedies

  • Turmeric reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.
  • Pawpaw suppressed growth in cultured cells of several cancers, such as leukemia, small-cell Lung Cancer, Colon Cancer,Melanoma, Ovarian Cancer, Renal Cancer.
  • Beets : beet juice is an astonishingly effective treatment for leukemia and other cancers : betanin pigments can impede tumor cell growth in tissues throughout the body, including the colon, stomach, nerves, lungs, breast, prostate, testicles.
  • Olive leaf has anti-cancer effects and increased immune support. Boosting immune strength can make it easier to fight “infection and illness or other symptoms of leukemia.”
  • Korean Red Ginseng is a herbal remedy that may be beneficial in treating and managing leukemia.
  • Milk Thistle is commonly used for ailments and it may also help suppress the growth of certain types of cancer. There are ongoing studies looking the possible benefits of milk thistle when used on patients with leukemia and chemotherapy-related damage to the liver.
  • Acai : Researchers at the University of Florida have found that acai berries contain properties that can destroy cancer cells, specifically leukemia cells
  • Cinnamon reduces proliferation of leukemia and lymphoma cancer cells.
  • Limonoids have shown cytotoxicity to breast cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, neuroblastoma, leukemia, melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer.
  • Grape seed extract shows remarkable protective effects against three major cancers: squamous cell carcinoma and prostate and hematologic malignancies.
  • Echinacea : A study published in the Oxford University Press Journal revealed that mice who were given Echinacea on a daily basis for a period of five years indeed exhibited the ability to fight cancer, specifically leukemia.
  • Black Seed : Thymoquinone from black seeds could be a promising agent for the treatment of leukemia.
  • A compound made from Aloe Vera, di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), has been found to stop the development of leukaemia cells in test tubes.
  • resin from frankincense extract successfully induced apoptosis, increasing cell death by approximately 40 percent in leukemia cells.
  • Dandelion root extract is found to help with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.
  • Feverfew : A study from the Rochester University in New York put the spotlight squarely on this herb. Researchers were shocked to discover that feverfew was better at killing leukemia cells than cytarabine. Parthenolide, the active ingredient in feverfew, has been fast-tracked by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Rheum rhabarbarum : A research effort at Winship Cancer Institute recently identified a substance in orange lichen and rhubarb that has the potential to be used as a new anti-cancer drug. The substance, an orange pigment known as parietin or physcion, slows the growth and can even kill leukemia cells harvested from patients, without obvious toxic effects on human cells, the study authors report.
  • Vitamin A has also been proven to inhibit the spread of cancer cells and to restore normal, healthy cell growth patterns. Its effects are especially potent against leukemia and certain head and neck cancers.
  • EPA in fish oil targets leukemia stem cells and prevents them from dividing.
  • Bitter Melon was able to kill leukemic cells in an in vitro research study.
  • Ganoderma Lucidum causes apoptosis in leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma cells.
  • Cruciferous Vegetables : Natural sulforaphane compound from crucifers found effective to treat common form of leukemia.
  • Agaricus may possess anti-tumor properties that could aid in the treatment of leukemia.
  • Chang Shan : In 2011, researchers from the University of Sao Paulo, the University of Brazil, and Tel Aviv University discovered that halofuginone (HF) is capable of fighting leukemia. Not only does HF prevent leukemia cancer cells from spreading, but it also induces apoptosis, also known as cell death.
  • Black Walnut : scientists found several animal studies supporting the use of black walnut's active compound, juglone, in treating various types of cancer. Juglone reduced the occurance of tumors and of tumor growth and killed human leukemia cells in vitro. However, juglone also promoted skin cancer, allergies and inflammation when applied topically. Researchers concluded that juglone may be an anticancer compound in some forms of cancer, but its usefulness is limited by its high toxicity
  • Salvia Sclarea : Sclareol is able to kill human leukemic cells and colon cancer cells by apoptosis.
  • Apigenin is able to induced natural cell death (apoptosis) in U937 human leukemia cells, exerting also anti-leukemic activity in vivo.
  • Ruta Graveolens (homeopathy) shows promising treatment for brain cancer, colon Cancer and leukemia.
  • Artemisia annua : In studies involving leukemia, breast, and prostate cancer cells, the scientists say the compound was both effective at killing the cancer while preserving the non-cancerous cells.
  • Avocado : A study found that avocados contain a certain compound called avocatin B which has the potential to help treat this form of cancer.
