health Benefits and Uses of American Adder’s tongue

  • The Cherokee crushed the warmed leaves and poured the juice over wounds that would not heal.
  • All parts of the plant can be used for tea. This has been used for fevers and stomach ulcers.
  • It was used as a contraceptive for women, although it is unknown how this works.
  • A constituent : alpha-methylene-butyrolactone binds to cancerous cells to inhibit reproduction and therefore could possibly be a cancer remedy.
