Ayurveda, a form of alternative and complementary medicine in western nations, uses herbs, massage and yoga in addition to their modern medicines. Exceptional hygiene practices, the use of vegetable drugs and anointing with oils is all part of this healing tradition.

Supported by the metaphysics of the "four great elements"- fire, water, air and earth- in addition to the human body, this therapy focuses on healthful living throughout the entire life.

Ayurvedic Clinics sometimes offer therapeutic treatments such as pancha karma purification, which is always given under the supervision of a doctor, and doshas and marmas (pressure points like in reflexology).

Ayurvedic massage uses organic oils and nurturing strokes to promote relaxation and increase circulation. Oil massage therapies are often discussed in spa magazines and massage parlor reviews as some of the most luxurious. Treatments use only organic oils for types of luxurious massage treatments which are still used in India, as they have been for centuries, to treat many health issues. The oils are sesame, olive and/or sunflower. They are believed to eliminate toxins and waste from the body in addition to creating a relaxing, calming state.
