Benefits and uses of Colocynthis are

  • Colic and Diarrhea: It’s no surprise to see that colocynthis works well as a homeopathic remedy for these symptoms as this is what it was first discovered for within homeopathy. In this instance, it works well for the type of pain that can come on fast just below the naval. There may also be nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea that is very distinct with yellow or green stools. It may work well for a baby suffering from colic and who suffers from clear abdominal pain.
  • Menstrual Problems: Colocynthis is often turned to for terrible cramping pain in the uterus or ovaries during a monthly cycle. It may help with the symptoms and allow the cycle to even out a bit.
  • Facial Neuralgia: This homeopathic remedy works for the type of pain that is sharp and shooting on one side of the face and can extend up to the ear. This facial pain comes in waves and usually affects one side of the face at a time.
  • Neuralgic Pains: Colocynthis works well for sharp pains down the outer side of the thigh, leg, or foot. These pains may be accompanied by a backache and may even cause some sort of numbness at certain points.
  • Breast Cancer : Preliminary research shows that bitter cucumber may be effective against breast cancer. In tests on human cells, for instance, the authors of a study published in Biochemical Pharmacology in 2007 observed that compounds in bitter cucumber helped destroy breast cancer cells by inducing apoptosis (a type of programmed cell death essential for stopping the proliferation of cancer cells).
  • Diabetes : Bitter cucumber shows promise in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, according to a clinical trial published in Phytotherapy Research in 2009. For two months, 25 people with type 2 diabetes were treated with bitter cucumber extract in addition to their standard therapy. Compared to an additional study members who received a placebo in addition to their standard care, those given bitter cucumber showed a significantly greater improvement in blood sugar levels. In a previous study (published in Planta Medica in 2000), tests on rats demonstrated that bitter cucumber extract may help stimulate the production and activity of insulin and, as a result, help fight diabetes.

Profile Type

Colocynthis tends to be the most beneficial as a homeopathic remedy for those who have suppressed anger. They are generally restless, anxious, and though they are a bit reserved in nature they can tend to get angered very easily. They are very clear on what is right and wrong and often believe that their opinion is the only right one. They don’t like to be contradicted and can become indignant in certain circumstances.
