Ingredients
- Huang Qi : Rx. Astragali : 15-30g : Tonifies Qi and Blood, strengthens the Spleen and raises the Yang Qi of the Spleen and Stomach.
- With Bai Zhu, for Spleen Qi Deficiency with weakness, lassitude and loose stools.
- Bai Zhu: Rz. Atractylodis Macrocephalae : 25-30g : Tonifies the Spleen, augments Qi and calms the fetus.
- With Huang Qi, astringes and consolidates the Chong channel.
- Shan Zhu Yu : Fr. Corni : 18-24g : Stabilizes the Kidneys, astringes Jing and Body Fluids, stops excessive sweating, supports that which has collapsed, tonifies Liver and Kidney Yin, strengthens Kidney Yang, stabilizes the menses and stops bleeding.
- With Hai Piao Xia, Qian Cao Gen and Zong Lu Tan, for thin, pale, profuse uterine bleeding that either gushes or continually trickles out due to instability of the Chong channel.
- With Huang Qi and Long Gu, for uterine bleeding due to unstable Chong and Ren channels with Spleen Qi Deficiency.
- Bai Shao : Rx. Paeoniae Alba : 12-15g : Nourishes the Blood and regulates menstruation.
- Duan Long Gu : Calcined Fossilia Ossis Mastodi : 20-25g : Restrains, inhibits and binds to stop sweating, astringe Jing, stop bleeding, bind up the Intestines and generate flesh.
- With Shan Zhu Yu and Mu Li, for night sweats due to Yin Deficiency.
- with Huang Qi and Bai Shao, for spontaneous sweating due to exterior Deficiency.
- Duan Mu Li : Calcined Concha Ostreae : 20-25g Binds and dries so that it astringes sweating and Jing and stops vaginal discharge.
- With Shan Zhu Yu, for sweating.
- With Long Gu and Bai Shao, for anxiety, palpitations, insomnia, and dream disturbed sleep.
- Hai Piao Xiao : Endoconcha Sepiae : 12-15g : Restrains, holds in and stops bleeding.
- With Huang Qi, Qian Cao Gen and Wu Bei Zi, for excessive uterine bleeding.
- Zong Lu Tan : Charred Petiolus Trachycarpi : 6-9g Stops all types of bleeding and can be used for epistaxis, hematemesis, Intestinal Wind, and continuous uterine bleeding whenever there is no Heat internally.
- With Bai Zhu, Huang Qi, Shan Zhi Yu and Qian Cao Gen, for chronic bleeding due to Blood Deficiency.
- Wu Bei Zi : Galla Chinensis : 1-6g Astringes sweat, astringes the Kidneys and stops bleeding.
- With Bai Zhu, Huang Qi and Hai Piao Xiao, for uterine bleeding or profuse menstruation from Spleen Qi Deficiency.
- Rx. Rubiae Qian Cao Gen 9-12g Cools the Blood and stops bleeding.
- With Hai Piao Xiao, for excessive uterine bleeding.
- With Hai Piao Xiao and Huang Qi, for Qi Deficient uterine bleeding.
- With Long Gu, for Blood-streaked leukorrhea.
Special Precautions of Gu Chong Tang
Contraindicated if the problem is so severe that it leads to an Abandoned Disorder, characterized by profuse sweating, cold limbs and an imperceptible pulse. In such cases, modify the formula.
