Special Precautions of Niu Huang
- Contraindicated during pregnancy.
- Contraindicated for those with no Heat Excess.
- Contraindicated for those with Spleen and Stomach Deficiencies.
- Contraindicated for infants with diarrhea due to poor digestion of milk.
- Contraindicated for those with Wind-Stroke in the channels with facial paralysis, numbness of the skin or partial paralysis of the limbs.
- Antagonizes Fossila Ossis Mastoidi Long Gu.
- Antagonizes Rx. Rehmanniae Sheng Di Huang.
- Antagonizes Rx. Gentianae Long Dan Cao.
- Antagonizes Rx. Dichroa Chang Shan.
- Counteracts Rx. Achyranthis Bidentate Niu Xi.
- Niu Huang has a mild sedative effect. It reduces the stimulation induced by caffeine and enhances the sedation induced by morphine and barbiturates and other sedatives.
