Special Precautions of Pomegranate Peel Extract (PPE)

Health Benefits and uses of Pomegranate Peel Extract (PPE) are

In alternative medicine, pomegranate peel extract is said to help treat and/or prevent the following health problems:

  • colds
  • cough
  • High Cholesterol : Several animal-based studies have shown that pomegranate peel extract may help lower cholesterol levels. In a study published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2014, for instance, tests on rats placed on a high-fat demonstrated that treatment with pomegranate peel extract led to a significant decrease in the animals' total cholesterol. What's more, pomegranate peel extract appeared to protect the rats from liver damage. A mouse-based study published in the British Journal of Nutrition in 2013 also found that pomegranate peel extract may help keep cholesterol in check. Another key finding from the study: pomegranate peel extract may help boost health by promoting the growth of probiotic bacteria in the gut.
  • Diabetes : Pomegranate peel extract may help control diabetes, according to a mouse-based study published in the journal Biofactors in 2007. The study found that polyphenols in pomegranate peel extract may help regulate blood sugar levels, as well as improve insulin levels.
  • Cancer : There's some evidence that pomegranate peel extract may have anti-cancer benefits. In a rat-based study published in Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention, for instance, an experiment on rats showed that pomegranate peel extract may inhibit the development of colon cancer. Furthermore, a preliminary study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food in 2011 shows that pomegranate peel extract may help combat breast cancer. In their research on human breast cancer cells, the study's authors observed that pomegranate peel extract may help thwart the growth and spread of breast cancer partly by inducing apoptosis (a type of programmed cell death essential for stopping the proliferation of cancer cells).
  • Gum disease
  • Sore throat
  • In addition, pomegranate peel is thought to promote detox, protect against heart disease, fight cancer, shield your skin from sun damage, and offer anti-aging benefits.
