Saccharomyces boulardii is a type of yeast sourced from the skin of such plants as lychee and mangosteen. Long used in certain systems of medicine and now available in dietary supplement form, Saccharomyces boulardii is thought to aid in the treatment of a variety of gastrointestinal disorders. Saccharomyces boulardii is considered to be a probiotic, a class of beneficial bacteria found to stimulate the immune system and protect digestive health.
