Causes

Factors that can increase your risk of mouth cancer include:

  • Tobacco use of any kind, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco and snuff, among others
  • Heavy alcohol use
  • Excessive sun exposure to your lips
  • A sexually transmitted virus called human papillomavirus (HPV)

Home remedies

  • Spirulina may offer some protection against oral cancer.
  • Blue-Green Algae are used to treat precancerous mouth lesions.
  • black raspberry : the dark pigments, anthocyanins, can prevent oral cancers.
  • Coffee : Drinking four or more cups of this a day can cut your risk of oral cancer in half.
  • Lupeol in blueberries, papaya, and blackberries potentially reduce the risk of developing oral cancer.
  • Avocado : Oral cancer and cancer in the breast and prostate are three kinds of cancer which can be avoided through the consumption of avocadoes.
  • Beta-Cryptoxanthin (in papaya, mango, peaches, oranges, tangerines, bell peppers, corn and watermelon) seems to reduce the risk of lung cancer, mouth cancer and colon cancer.
  • Thyme : Recent research has shown that if you mix thyme and olive oil it will enhance the availability of hydroxytyrosol, olive oil’s most potent anti-cancer compound.
  • EGCG : studies have shown that EGCG can kill oral cancer cells without harming normal cells
  • Other strategies to prevent oral cancer include avoiding tobacco products, limiting alcohol consumption, eating lots of fruits and vegetables and getting vaccinated against human papilloma virus
