Other Names : Flaxseed Oil
Linseed oil is one of the oldest cultivated plants of mankind. The first traces of human use of linseed date back to 7000 BC. Flaxseed is grown for the extraction of the seeds. This is sold separately, but it can also be used to make linseed oil. In Europe, it is mainly grown in Germany and furthermore in the US, Canada, Latin America and Asia. The Latin name for linseed is linum usitatissimum.

Special Precautions of Linseed Oil

Short retention time : If you want to use linseed oil as a natural medicine, you should always use organic oils. For all medicinal uses of plant products, only organic products are eligible. Flaxseed oil should come from cold pressing and should be stored in a cool, dark place. You should no longer use old, rancid linseed oil. Flaxseed oil begins to oxidize quickly. Flaxseed oil may have gone rancid as early as four weeks after opening.

Compounds

  • Palmitic acid: 5%
  • Stearic Acid: 2.5%
  • Oleic acid: 16%
  • Linoleic acid: 15%
  • Alpha-linolenic acid: 61.5%

Health Benefits and Uses of Linseed Oil

Numerous scientific studies have shown that linseed oil is not only good for prevention, but can also repair diseases that have to do with disturbed metabolism, stress and negative environmental influences. More and more doctors and naturopaths are praising the medicinal quality of linseed oil. This oil has been shown to be beneficial in allergies, arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, and people with psychological problems such as depression. It also has a positive effect on the heart circulation.

  • Omega 3 champion : Flaxseed oil is the only oil that contains more basic omega 3 fatty acids than basic omega 6 fatty acids. Contrary to popular belief, fish is not an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids; linseed oil contains 20 times as much omega 3 fatty acids as mackerel. Fish oil tablets should be avoided completely because they do not contain a basic omega 3 but a derivative thereof. It is a pity that these are also called omega 3 fats because this confusion of language makes it seem like fish oil omega 3 is healthy; however, these derivatives are definitely not healthy.
  • Daily requirement of essential fatty acids : The ideal ratio of basic omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that the body can have is two parts omega 6 to one part omega 3. This means that linseed oil contains relatively too much omega 3. You can make up for that difference by mixing it in ideal proportion with almost any other oil except olive oil. Olive oil contains too little basic omega 6 fatty acids. For example, you can combine linseed oil with organic sunflower oil. One tablespoon of this mixture daily is enough to get all the essential fatty acids.
  • Cancer : The essential fatty acids in organic oils are not just healthy; they prevent cancer! That's how it works: cancer cells arise from normal body cells that have an oxygen deficiency, as Nobel prize winner Otto Warburg discovered. These body cells have absorbed too many trans fats into the cell membrane, so that the cell does not allow enough oxygen to pass through. Basic omega 3 and basic omega 6 fatty acids are oxygen scavengers. When essential fatty acids are contained in the cell membrane instead of trans fats, the risk of oxygen deficiency is nil. Otto Warburg made his discoveries after 40 years of research and published his findings in 1967. Other professors and cancer researchers have ignored his work, mainly because researchers wanted to look for cancer in the genes, something that has still not succeeded. Brian Peskin explains Otto Warburg's findings accompanied by scientific studies in a way that is understandable to everyone in his book: 'The undisclosed story of cancer'. The US Center for Cancer Research has released a PDF showing the scientific studies on flaxseed and breast cancer. Early studies show that linseed can indeed help and that this is attributed to basic omega 3 or alpha-linolenic acid. However, the same PDF starts by stating that it is not recommended to take flaxseed for cancer. This contradiction remains unexplained in the PDF, but what is meant is that you should not rely on linseed oil, but on chemotherapy and radiation. These last two treatments are also known to cause cancer; they are downright clumsy ways of 'healing'. A large number of biochemists and oncologists do not allow themselves to be treated with chemotherapy and radiation, if they have cancer. That is a telling fact.
  • Aging processes : The role that essential fatty acids play in the body not only has a preventive and curative influence on cancer. It also counteracts aging processes. By the way, linseed oil cannot cure every cancer; End-stage cancer is virtually irreversible. Brian Peskin writes (in a personal email) that 99% of cancer can be cured with natural oils.
  • Good for memory : Omega 3 fatty acids have a positive effect on memory. People with a disturbed emotional life and emotional life could very well get too little basic omega 3 fatty acids. This makes the intake of biological, healthy fatty acids important for Alzheimer's patients. In phytotherapy it is stated that an early Alzheimer's can be cured! That while in regular medicine it is said that you have to take medication for the rest of your life, but it only gets worse. There are more diseases that can only be treated in regular medicine, but can be cured according to phytotherapy. An example of this is type 1 and 2 diabetes.
  • Diabetes : Flaxseed oil works well for diabetic patients. The blood sugar level rises less quickly if one takes linseed oil with the meal, so that less insulin is needed. Flaxseed oil is one of the foods that can reverse an onset of diabetes or metabolic syndrome. One can simply be cured of an incipient diabetes by eating right.
  • increases well-being : Flaxseed Oil Press / Source: Angela M. Arnold, Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA-3.0)Flaxseed oil press / Source: Angela M. Arnold , Wikimedia Commons ( CC BY-SA-3.0 )Biochemist Johanna Budwig has already said in the 20th century that linseed oil increases general well-being. It helps well in an anti-cancer diet, especially together with cottage cheese. Incidentally, Brian Peskin also says that eating proteins is good against cancer, while eating carbohydrates provides food for cancer cells. Cancer cells can't do anything with proteins; if you avoid carbohydrates, cancer cells can die. Flaxseed oil helps the body regenerate itself.
