Home remedies

  • Extra-virgin coconut oil is loaded with medium chain triglycerides that enhance the immune system in its battle against pathogens. Raw garlic and onions provide sulfur containing amino acids that are anti-parasitic. Eat six tablespoons of raw, extra virgin coconut oil, one whole clove of garlic, and one large red onion daily to help parasite proof your body.
  • Dried oregano and especially essential oil of oregano are extremely volatile and anti-parasitic. Use 2-3 drops of oregano oil in water with fresh squeezed lemon and drink this 3x daily. Clove works just as well so you could also substitute or use clove oil with oregano oil. Ginger, wormwood, black walnut are also commonly used in anti-parasitic strategies.
  • Pomegranate : Eating pomegranate daily may help expel parasites and reduce the severity of the symptoms associated with these pests. Ingesting pomegranate seeds is more beneficial in treating parasites than pomegranate juice.
  • Aloe Vera is a potent purgative. Take this remedy as a juice, powder, gel or tablet for any type of intestinal parasite.
  • Fasting with fermented drinks such as fermented whey from grass-fed cows and fermented ginger, kombucha, coconut kefir, apple cider vinegar, etc. are powerful tools to help destroy parasites. Many holistic health coaches recommend a three to twenty-one day low calorie, liquid diet that is rich in fermented beverages, water and fresh squeezed lemon. Probiotic supplements are highly recommended to help destroy parasites and re-innoculate the gut.
  • Black Walnut Hulls
  • Wormwood (from the Artemisia shrub) leaf contains potent plant chemicals that are active against a variety of intestinal parasites.
  • Common Cloves
  • Pumpkin Seeds, or Pumpkin Seed Oil Capsules
  • Garlic
  • Neem is a powerful anti-microbial that is classically used Ayurvedic Medicine. The compounds within neem that make it so effective include anti-fungals, anti-virals, gedunin, nimbin and nimbidin. Neem also contains the polyphenolic anti-oxidant compounds quercetin and B-sitosterol. (Do not take neem if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, because it can work as a contraceptive.)
  • Oregano has been shown to have diverse activity against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Specifically oregano essential oil has been shown to effectively act on bacteria like MRSA that have become resistant to traditional treatments.
  • Thyme leaf and seed
  • Marshmallow root
  • Diatomaceous Earth
  • Savory (Satureja sp.) : acts against intestinal parasites, viruses, fungi and bacteria.
  • Epazote (Chenopodium ambrosioides) is a plant native to Mexico and Central and South America. Indigenous groups have used epazote to cure intestinal parasites, especially tapeworms, hookworms, roundworms, fungi and certain bacteria. It has recently been investigated for its ability to fight H. Pylori which is a common and tricky to fight bacterial infection that many people get. Wormseed has also been investigated as a natural alternative to chemical bug sprays, food preservatives, and as a supplement to help prevent intestinal infections in livestock.
  • Tribulus terrestris is a flowering plant that is renowned in southern Europe and the middle East. This herb was shown to have strong anti-microbial effects against 11 pathogenic microbes including Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Serratia marcescens, Salmonella typhimurium, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans.
  • Mimosa pudica seeds consist of a very gooey, sticky fat-soluble material that adheres to everything and helps to support the entire intestinal tract. It is considered by many to be the best herbal treatment for worms and other larger parasites.

  • Grapefruit seed contains high amounts of citrus bioflavonoids that act as powerful antioxidants and anti-microbials. Specifically hesperidin, contained in grapefruit seed, may be largely responsible for its antimicrobial effects. Studies have highlighted antibacterial and anti-fungal effects from this potent extract and, when combined with geranium, has even shown to effectively combat MRSA (an antibiotic-resistant strain of staph infection)
  • Vidanga (Embelia ribes) is a climbing shrub that has powerful anti-parasitic effects. One of the main compounds is embelin and its unique 2,5 isobutylmine salts as well as plant tannins and glycosides that have been reported to possess anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-hemolith, analgesic and anti-oxidant activities.
  • Male Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas) is one of the most powerful anti-parasitic herbs for tapeworms. (warning : male fern is poisonous and can be fatal if you take too high a dose).
  • Passionflower is an herb commonly used for anxiety relief and relaxation. It contains a wide array of nutrients including alkaloids, phenols, glycoside flavonoids, and cyanogenic compounds that may contribute to its ability to help fight pathogens.
  • Parasites love sugar and everything that turns into sugar. So the best way to starve the parasites is through using healthy fasting and cleansing strategies while eliminating as much sugar and grains as possible from the diet.
  • After the cleansing period, it is especially important to utilize high quality fermented raw dairy and vegetables. Raw, grass-fed fermented dairy products like amasai & cheese and kimchi, sauerkraut, and fermented veggies should be used abundantly. These foods are rich sources of L-glutamine, an amino acid that helps rebuild the gut. These fermented foods also contain very powerful strains of good bacteria, organic acids, and enzymes that act to keep parasites out of the body.
