is an Ayurveda system of disease management that consists of 4 main treatments - Shodana, Shaman, Rasayana and Satvajaya.

Health Benefits and Uses of Sodhana

This treatment helps us remove the toxins (ama) and other harmful wastes from our body. The treatment includes Purvakarma (initial procedures), Pradhanakarma (the main procedures) and Paschatkarma (post-operative procedures).
The method used for Shodana is “Panchakarma” or the process of purification in 5 steps which are - Vaman or vomiting out the toxins, Virechan or rejection which eliminates the waste out of our body, Basti or medicinal enema which is often done using sesame seeds and milk, Rakta-moksha or the cleansing of blood and finally, Nasya or cleansing your nasal tract and sinuses. The thri doshas are coming under control (vatha,pitha and kapha) and the Body Purification Therapy or Shodhana Chikilsa is meant for to attain the proper balance of these thri doshas. Pancha Karma and Swetha Karma are treatments are the specific base of Body Purification Therapy. It needs 15 days for the completion of one course of the said therapy and it promises guaranteed balancing of vatha, pitha and kabha and more over the entire health of the patient, also leads to longevity. This is a therapy accompanied with Body Massage, Snehapanam, Nasyam, Virechanam (medicated purgative)Sneha Vasthi, Dhara, Pizhichil, Njava Kizhi, Karna Pooranam, Tharpanam, Siro Vasti, Steam Bath etc. Body Purification Therapy (Shodhana Chikilsa) also needs internal herbal medicines.
