  • Moola shodhana massages soothes swollen, inflamed haemorrhoidal tissue, and breaks up spasm. It also sends the stagnant, pooled energy and blood upward by stimulating the mooladhara chakra area.   • Butcher's Broom : The plant butcher's broom (Ruscus aculeatus), which is also known as knee holly, box holly, and sweet broom, gets its name because it was once used by butchers in Europe to clean their chopping blocks. Butcher's broom has a long history of traditional use for hemorrhoids and varicose veins. It is often used when there is underlying poor circulation in the veins.How does butcher's broom work? Although scientists haven't confirmed the effectiveness of butcher's broom for hemorroids, butcher's broom extract contains anti-inflammatory and vein-contricting properties that are believed to improve the tone and integrity of veins and shrink the swollen tissue. The active compound is called ruscogen. Butchers broom has also been shown to be effective when applied topically as an ointment or compress. Butcher's broom should not be used by people with high blood pressure, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), by pregnant or nursing women, or by people taking alpha blocker or MAO inhibitor drugs unless otherwise recommended by their doctor.
  • Horse Chestnut :The herb horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum), like Butchers broom, is often recommended when there is poor circulation in the veins, or chronic venous insufficiency. In folk medicine, it is used to relieve symptoms such as swelling and inflammation and strengthen blood vessel walls. The active compound is believed to be aescin. Horse chestnut can be taken as a tea or in capsule form. It can also be applied externally as a compress. People with an allergy to the horse chestnut family, bleeding disorders, or people taking blood thinners should not take horse chestnut. Only products made from the seeds or bark of the young branches should be used. Other parts of the plant are poisonous.   • Witch Hazel: The most ancient and trusted chemical hemorrhoid treatment. Apply to area 2-3 times per day. Its astringent qualities make it the primary ingredient in many over-the-counter treatments.
  • Essential oils for hemorrhoids-treatment : lavender, tea Tree, Cypress Oil, peppermint, geranium, camphor, Iary, Helichrysum, Frankincense, Patchouly Oil, Myrtle, Juniper, Niaouli, Roman Chamomile, Sandalwood, Yarrow.
  • Stone Root is used for Hemorrhoids and anal prolapse. Stoneroot or collinsonia is a herbal hemorrhoids remedy that works to strengthen the veins. Take 375 mg twice/day between meals.
  • Coconut Oil - Apply coconut oil directly to hemorrhoids, rinse and repeat. In addition to symptoms subsiding, the hemorrhoids should disappear over the course of just a few days.
  • Aloe Vera : The very same anti-inflammatory constituents that reduce blistering and inflammation in burns also help reduce the irritation of hemorrhoids. Break off a piece of the aloe vera leaf and apply only the clear gel to the hemorrhoids.
  • Bael contains many beneficial ingredients that fight hemorrhoids. Bael contains rutin, which improves the permeability of capillaries and blood vessels. This helps prevent swelling during elimination. Rutin is a vein healer and promotes healthy circulation. Bael also contains quercetin, which is a flavonoid that helps retain mucus in the intestines to make elimination easier. Bael is known for its gentle laxative effect that keeps stool soft.

  • Apple cider vinegar – Using apple cider vinegar is one of the most popular natural treatments for hemorrhoids.   • Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) can be used in topical applications to lessen hemorrhoid inflammation, the UMMC says. Goldenrod has astringent and antioxidant properties and is used both internally and externally, the Network notes. Topical applications of goldenrod are used to treat wounds, ulcers and insect bites.

Daflon, a product made with citrus bioflavonoids was found to improve symptoms in pregnant women by day four of taking it and to reduce symptoms of pain, heaviness, bleeding, itching and discharge.
  • Triphala : An Ayurvedic compound of three fruits. It is well-known as a bowel tonic that gently relieves constipation without being a harsh stimulant.
  • Topical application of chamomile or calendula. Can be applied as a compress or ointment.
  • a supplement containing a combination of hesperidin and diosmin (another antioxidant compound available in citrus fruits) was found to aid in the treatment of hemorrhoids.
  • Common Knotgrass : Juice of Polygonum aviculare is taken to ease swelling of hemorrhoids. Some herbalists still prescribe a tea made from the dried herb as a topical astringent for bleeding hemorrhoids.
  • Blackstrap Molasses is high in minerals such as manganese, copper, calcium, potassium, and iron, which are all effective minerals that help with the healing of hemorrhoids and the improvement of Varicose Veins.

  • Cayenne pepper: Okay, we KNOW what you’re thinking and you’re absolutely right. But people really do this: Mix with a water-soluble ointment (NOT Vaseline or other petroleum based products) and apply directly. Obviously, go easy with this; wash off and try another hemorrhoid treatment if you can’t take the heat.
  • Corn starch or baby powder: Won’t really fix anything, but it can keep the hemorrhoids dry and make them much easier to endure.
  • Exercise and diet: 90% of all hemorrhoids could probably be avoided if you all ate better and exercised more. Not living in California is not an excuse for lack of exercise and eating bad food. This can cause constipation, which leads to straining, which causes hemorrhoids. The more you exercise and the better you eat, the less likely you are to be tempted to try some of these hemorrhoid treatment methods.
  • Several people have reported that by simply pushing the hemorrhoids back inside the anus, their pain is relieved until they emerge again. You might try this treatment first.
  • Fix sliced onion and honey, put some on a cotton wool pad and apply on the hemorrhoids for 3 hours.
  • Chop onions and garlic cloves, put on a cotton wool pad and wait for 3 hours. Then apply on the hemorrhoids.
  • Apply Vitamin E oil topically to the anal area or cutting off the end of a vitamin E capsule, and squeezing the oil inside into the anus also brings a great deal of pain relief.
  • DMSO : dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). In the literature, there is one anecdotal study in which a physician used DMSO topically for hemorrhoids. By his report, a 70 percent solution of DMSO will dissolve blood-engorged hemorrhoids almost overnight. It may be worth trying.
  • Cumin : The main reason behind piles is constipation added with infections in the wound in the anal tract, which again is caused by constipation.   • Peony : People apply peony to the skin for healing cracked skin, especially cracks around the anus (anal fissures) that sometimes occur with hemorrhoids.
  • Acer Negundo
  • Jamblang better known as jambul fruit is effective in treating hemorrhoids. This fruit is available during the summers, so make full use of their availability. Eat a handful of jambul with a little salt early in the morning on an empty stomach.
  • Rutabaga better known as shalgam, is another useful remedy. Prepare a mixture of 50 ml each of carrot, spinach and rutabaga leaves juice.
  • Ice : There are commercially made ice packs just for hemorrhoids you can buy, or just sit on a bag of frozen peas (or corn, or spinach...whatever frozen vegetable you had in your freezer the longest!.
  • St. John's Wort Oil can be applied to the skin for healing. St. John's Wort is anti-inflammatory and excellent for healing the skin.

  • Apply lecithin for relief and healing. Lecithin comes in the form of Lecithin Granules...crush these to make a gel like substance which can be applied. 12
  • Regular supplementation with vitamin C will help prevent hemorrhoids.
  • Echinacea makes a great home remedy for hemorrhoids. Add 1 teaspoon of Echinacea Root Extract to warm water, and use a cotton ball to apply to the rectum. 1 Learn more benefits of echinacea.
  • Comfrey topical balm is one of the best home remedies for hemorrhoids. Comfrey contains allantoin which is anti-inflammatory and a mucilage.
  • Make a rectal wash using marjoram and thyme. Boil 1 tablespoon of each herb in 2 cups of water, simmer for 5 minutes and then steep for 15 minutes. Strain and store in the fridge. Before using heat to a lukewarm temperature. 1 Learn more about thyme tea.
  • Quercetin– A dietary supplement related to vitamin C that may help improve vein strength. Take 300 – 1000 mg three times daily.
  • Chard : Once you have the chard (in good condition), rinse well and let cool in refrigerator, apply enough leaves on the affected area at least 3 times a day.
  • Epsom Salts and glycerin: Two tablespoons of Epsom salts mixed with 2 tablespoons of glycerin can be topically applied to the painful area with a gauze. Apply for 15-20-minutes and repeat every 4 to 6 hours.
  • Psyllium (Plantago psyllium) is an herbal laxative commonly used in traditional medicine, according to the Herb Growing & Marketing Network. Because constipation can make bleeding hemorrhoids much worse, the use of the fiber-containing herb psyllium can be helpful, the UMHS notes. Taking 7 grams of psyllium three times daily can reduce the pain and bleeding from hemorrhoids, according to a double-blind clinical trial cited by the UMHS.
  • Common Alder : Alnus species have been used for the treatment of rheumatism, hemorrhoids and for wound healing in folk medicine.
  • Ayurveda : Haemorrhoid sadhana. Haemorrhoids very rarely require urgent medical treatment, and therefore it is worth your while to give some time to the following yogic techniques Which have been time tested and shown to remove the bodily and mental tension which causes spasm and constriction of the rectum muscles. Haemorrhoid sadhana is divided into two main parts:
    • The alleviation of constipation - see the section on constipation.
    • Specific practices for piles:
      • Hatha yoga: Moola shodhana, nauli.
      • Asanas: Sarvangasana or vipareeta karani mudra (which drains stagnant blood from the anus).
      • Mudras and bandhas: Ashwini mudra (can be practiced on its own at any time of the day or with the inverted asana), moola bandha.
